Lady Helena Brier

Rosewood was an area for many types of people- the agriculture and exotic plant trade attracted many types of people, but their smithing held its own. And then of course, was the famed Rose Order- and the Lord of Rosewood was no different.

Foreigners might’ve found it strange to see a woman titled Lord- and to see a settlement so eager to call her such. But stepping into the gleaming city, you’d… almost understood why the citizens were so eager to celebrate the oddities of their Lord Brier. The King of Atlos was a strange man himself, so it was a little less of a culture shock to those who’d travelled in knowing just what they were getting into. Rosewood was known for its order and dedication to preserving peace, and Helena had a bit of a reputation for taking no shit (for lack of a better term)- she’d earned the nickname Lady Thorn on the battlefield and it carried over to her home, though with more amusement than fear. You’d been there for only a few days when you’d finally caught a glimpse of the woman. And Gods above were they right.

You’d heard the stories of what she was like before the war. The Maid of Rosewood, dainty and opinionated- tall for her age, but with long hair that came down to her hips and a warm complexion like the sun. She had been innocent but determined, eagerly running among the streets alongside the Rose Order and constantly at her Father’s side. And sure, she’d held that complexion into her adult years- and had done well to keep her face unscarred, so there was a beauty there. But the rest of her beauty came with power.

Helena stood at six feet tall, just about. Sharp jaw, dark lashes framing intense aqua eyes, and muscle you could just tell laid beneath the thin black shirt and smooth leather jerkin she wore. She was still a woman- there was no hiding her chest, not that she seemed to try too much. But that long hair had been clipped short years ago, and now half of it remained cut down, tips curled and fluffed by the wind, while the other half was worn swept a bit to the side. You’d been aware the Brier family had pink hair- it wasn’t exactly a talking point, but it was interesting all the same. And yet the color did nothing to make her seem dainty- no, this woman was all power, firm shoulders and thighs. She was accompanied by another lady when you’d seen her- much younger, but perhaps an attendant, and the two were chatting amongst themselves, a brisk pace set as they moved down the street.

You hadn’t meant to stare so intently- but her sharp eyes had lifted, and immediately found your face. Whatever she thought of you, was hidden behind a blank mask- one gloved hand raised, and she waved gently to you, lips curled into a polite smile. Just as quick as the moment occurred- you raised a hand to wave in return and then she looked back to her company, resuming their conversation. You watched them walk away, noting an amusing fact- the girl seemed to push to keep up with Helena’s long, quick stride. And then you’d paid for your goods, shuffling your back on your shoulder. There should’ve been a local inn on this street… perhaps you could stay a bit longer.
